ปี 2011 ซึ่งเป็นปีที่ภูมิภาคโทโฮขุประสบภัยพิบัติขนาดใหญ่ จังหวัดฮอกไกโด ซึ่งมีระยะห่างไกลจากสถานที่เกิดเหตุแต่ก็ได้รับผลกระทบที่นักท่องเที่ยวเดินทางน้อยลง
